The biggest news of this week, probably this year, is Microsoft’s proposed $70 billion purchase from Activision Blizzard. Online, people have opinions about this massive event and its ramifications, and in that regard, Japan is no different. The way Microsoft’s flagship console is perceived by many in Japan, however, is quite different.
In the United States, Microsoft’s Xbox gaming platform is popular, but in Japan it has traditionally been overlooked or even overlooked. Sony’s PlayStation has long eclipsed Xbox in Japan and is the country’s default preference over Microsoft’s gaming machine. This prospect makes what people online in Japan think of the proposed purchase particularly interesting.
“It surprised me.”
“There’s a bunch of games I’m not interested in, so that’s good.”
“What is Sony doing?”
“Well, that’s all for Diablo.”
“Microsoft! Give us back Diablo!!”
“An industry destroyer.”
“These are wild times.”
“Sony is finished.”
“It’s a huge deal.”
It demolishes the bastion of the PS5.
This is only the beginning of the end.
Get ready, Japan.
“[Activision Blizzard] fell out of favor due to the harassment situation, and Microsoft just bought them.
“With this, the Box wins!!”
“So Blizzard games are coming to Game Pass!”
“Well, that’s good.”
“Microsoft’s money power is awful.”
“They bought the sexual harassment.”
“If PlayStation doesn’t get Call of Duty, It’s finish.”
“Thank you, Bill Gates.”
“Don’t you feel like Microsoft’s gaming branch has really arrived? (They’re about twenty years behind, though.)”
“They really want to monopolize the gaming industry.”
“Microsoft loves to buy well-known companies.”
“It completely wipes out the Japanese game industry.”
“Fix bugs in Halo.”
“Microsoft is going to buy Sony Interactive Entertainment. Heck, they might even buy Sony proper.
“It would have been better to buy Square Enix.”
“How much money do they have?” »
“To be honest, it’s not worth $70 billion.”
“The PlayStation will lose against the Xbox?”
“The next step is EA? The power of their [Microsoft’s] the money is amazing.
“It’s the death of the PlayStation.”
“Farewell Call of Duty.”
“And with that, PlayStation lost.”
“I guess that means Call of Duty fans are going to abandon the PlayStation?
“It’s just a shell in itself because the talented game creators left because of the sexual harassment issue.”
“Blizzard just release shitty games now. Their character design feels 1980s and looks creepy.
“To say that the Call of Duty is an Xbox exclusive is a powerful phrase.
“Good Microsoft! I thought Blizzard was broke, but this should make for some kind of games. Ah, that’s okay.
“It leaves a better impression than Tencent [acquiring Activision Blizzard].”
“The PlayStation is finished? Well, the PC is fine, then.
“If you then buy Nintendo, release Zelda on a next-gen console.”
“Who are they going to buy next?
Keep improving Game Pass!”
“Microsoft brings all third-party studios together.”
“Sexual Harassment CEO Stay? Microsoft, come on, make it right.
“Sony, it’s over. I guess Xbox’s share will increase.
“Is it the death of Call of Duty?”
“If you’re talking about Japan, then it’s the Switch.
If you’re talking about the West, then it’s Xbox.
If you mean trash, then it’s the Trash Station.
“Don’t you have to be a moron to buy Blizzard now? MDR”
“It would have been nice to buy Square Enix and Capcom.”
“People said the same thing with Bethesda, but has anything changed?”
“It has no impact on Nintendo.”
“Sony, it’s over. Their stock has also dropped a lot.
“Where has competition, the fundamental principle of capitalism, gone?
Don’t monopolies make things worse?
“The fate of those under the Microsoft umbrella is not good.”
“I feel like the games have reached their peak.
The hardware battle has cooled.
“For me, who doesn’t play first-person shooters, I don’t care at all.”
“Does anyone with talent remain at Blizzard?”
“Then it looks like they would target From [Software].”
“It reduces the life of the PS5.”
“Diablo fans are happiest about it.
“Those who say Sony is done ha ha”
“If things turn out like this, then buy Kojima Productions and the rights to metal gear.”
“Microsoft’s money power is definitely something.”
“Is it okay to spend so much money on this?”
“Are you saying this is a huge win for Xbox?!”
“PlayStation 5: ‘It’s… okay… because… we have… Gran Turismo…’”
“Please buy Konami…”
“Sony it’s over hahahahahaha Nintendo won hahahaha”
“It has no impact on Japan.”
What do you think of the impact of the proposed acquisition on Japan? Or about games in general?
