Host Tyra Banks told Siwa she was proud of the teenager and the show for making the pairing happen.

“I think it’s going to save lives,” Banks said. “I think it’s going to change lives, and it’s going to make a lot of noise, and the noise that needs to be made.”
Siwa said that when she was first approached, the show’s executives asked her if she wanted to be associated with a man or a woman. She has already reassured her girlfriend, Kylie Prew, that despite all the chemistry she has with her partner on the air, it’s completely platonic.
“She was like, ‘Love, you’re gonna be amazing,’” Siwa said. “She has been a constant support.”
Siwa first rose to prominence in a competitive dance show produced by Abby Lee Miller of “Dance Moms”.
“I just want to do really good,” she said, adding that she was already tanning every day.
“I was traumatized when I was a kid and took tanning sprays for dance competitions,” Siwa said.
Lee won the all-around at the Tokyo Olympics, as well as a silver medal and a bronze medal. The 18-year-old from Minnesota will juggle Auburn University’s online classes while appearing on the Los Angeles-based show.
“I can express myself, which is what excites me, because in gymnastics you can’t really do that, especially when you train a lot and it’s just a very intense environment,” Lee said. “I am delighted to let go and have fun.”
