Jujutsu Kaisen named Anime of the Year at Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2022

There’s no doubt that Jujutsu Kaisen had an exciting week, thanks to an awesome Season 2 update and some great Season One wins. After earning multiple wins at Crunchyroll’s Anime Awards, Jujutsu Kaisen has just been named Anime of the Year at Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2022!

Jujutsu Kaisen beat out many other nominees who were chosen by fan vote at the 2022 Tokyo Anime Award Festival. The anime got the most votes out of 80 other titles. Needless to say, it’s a well-deserved award considering fans couldn’t get enough of the first season alone.

The Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2022 also awarded Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time the Best Film award at the event. In addition to this, several individual awards were handed out.

The full list of Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2022 winners is as follows:

Best Animated Film – Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Once Upon a Time
Anime of the Year – Jujutsu Kaisen
Anime Fan Award – IDOLiSH7’s Third Time! (3rd season 1st yard)
Best Original Story / Screenplay Director / Production – Hideaki Anno for Neon Genesis Evangelion
Best Animator – Akira Matsushima for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
Best Art/Color/Picture – Yuichi Terao for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
Best Sound and Performance – Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

Jujutsu Kaisen has also been confirmed for a second season. The official announcement was made during a special screening of Jujutsu Kaisen 0.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is still playing in theaters and is slated to hit theaters across North America in March. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 has yet to receive an official release date, but is expected to drop anytime between December 2022 and March 2023. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
