It comes from the mind of the extraordinary comedian David Cross, aka Tobias Funke of Arrested Development, who is a screenwriter, director and executive producer.
Bliss sees travel writer Andrew (Mangan) in a little moral dilemma: he’s split between his wife Kim (Graham) and their teenage daughter, and his other his wife Denise (Hartley) and their teenage son in Bristol – all of whom have no idea each other exists.
Balancing his two lives becomes more and more difficult until he begins to reach the breaking point – “As Andrew’s two worlds become harder and harder to contain, so does his sanity,” says Sky. “And he finds himself making increasingly drastic efforts to protect the two families he loves.”
The actors are excited, describing the script as “incredibly funny and wonderful”. David Cross said: “This project is unlike anything I have done before as I have never been to Bristol. Is it nice? I have heard some good things. Oh also it there’s a scene set in Weston-super-mare, so there’s that. “
Filming for Bliss will begin in London and Bristol (and Weston-super-Mare, apparently) later this month, so we expect it to land on Sky Atlantic next year. Sky Atlantic is available on Sky TV or via Now TV with an Entertainment Pass.
