What’s coming to screens: April 2022

Here we continue a new monthly section that will offer a quick list of what’s coming to cinemas, VOD and SVOD services, and gaming platforms over the next few weeks.

This is not a complete list, rather it is a list featuring the major titles and some minor titles worth noting. Titles are separated by date and listed with Movies first, then TV, then Games.

April 2022 sees big releases on the film front, including high-profile sequels like “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” and third film “Fantastic Beasts”, Sony’s new Marvel film “Morbius”, the return of Michael Bay with “Ambulance,” Liam Neeson’s latest action entry “Memory,” an adaptation of beloved children’s books “The Bad Guys” and “The Lighthouse” from Robert Eggers’ new Viking epic “The Northman.”

TV is where it’s at this month with the return of Michael Mann as part of HBO Max’s ‘Tokyo Vice’ series, while ‘The Wire’ creator David Simon is back with his drama on corruption “We Own This City”.

High-profile event series include making-of series “The Godfather,” “The Offer,” Showtime anthology drama “The First Lady,” Josh Brolin-directed trippy “Outer Range,” Andrew Garfield exploring Mormon murder in “Under the Banner of Heaven”. from Gary Oldman guiding bad spies in “Slow Horses,” to a reality-altering Elisabeth Moss investigating a killer in “Shining Girls,” and David E. Kelley’s latest with “Anatomy of a Scandal.”

There are also the latest series of “Ozark” and “Grace and Frankie”, and the long-awaited returns of “Better Call Saul”, “Russian Doll”, “The Flight Attendant”, “Mayans MC” and “Elite”. Unfortunately, the game’s front end is fairly anemic beyond a remake of ‘House of the Dead’, the latest ‘MLB The Show’ entry and the most significant – ‘Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga’.
