WWE has registered a new trademark, but its use remains a mystery.
On June 22, the company filed the name “Hachiman” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Here is the description:
“Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and artist rendered live and through broadcast media, including television and radio, and via the Internet or an online commercial service; providing news and information on the fight via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sport and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, arranging sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organization of social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for members of a wrestling fan club; providing on-line newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.
By doing a quick Google search, the name is often referred to as the god of war in Japanese culture. The name is also called the protector of Japan, the Japanese people, and the imperial household.
